At the end of the talk of the end times, which gets really depressing and scary at times, Jesus reminds us that we should be “awake” and working for when the master comes. A lot of people today talk about the end-times and how they’re SO near, and therefore we should just bunker down, gather everyone close, and weather the storm. But we aren’t called to do that. If anything, the signs that the end of the ages is coming means that we should be working harder and in more earnest for the master is coming soon. It’s a little bit of a different take for me, today, on this passage: Working hard to finish strong – working straight through to the end.
